Homeschool and cyberschool families are invited to join us for a morning of fun as we learn more about reading topographic maps and taking a bearing on a compass. We will build mountain models from clay and convert them to topography and then practice the reverse by reading a map to envision the terrain. We wil then discuss parts of a compass, how to orient ourselves to different bearings, and how to use a map to figure out which way we should go. This interactive program is best for children in upper elementary and older, but siblings are welcome. Please register the name of each child who will be participating to make sure we have enough compasses.
