Girl Scouts Love State Parks: Monarch Tagging
This is the afternoon session added due to popular demand! This program is designed specifically for Girl Scouts. Join the park naturalist as we catch, tag, and release migrating monarch butterflies. We'll learn about the biology and life cycle of this fascinating butterfly, and discuss its habitat requirements. Nets will be provided. Be prepared to walk through fields if you would like to help with the capture process (not required). Participants should wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes. We will be meeting by the model airplane flying field along Penn Forest Road South. Directions to Penn Forest Road South: Turn right out of the main entrance (Day Use Area/park office) onto Pohopoco Drive, and proceed east on Pohopoco Drive. Penn Forest Road South is located approximately 4.5 miles east of the park office on Pohopoco Drive, at the first 4-way stop intersection. Turn right (south) onto Penn Forest Road South. The model airplane flying field is approximately 8/10 of a mile on the left; there is plenty of parking along the right-hand side of the road. The general GPS address for the entrance gate to our Penn Forest Road access area is in the vicinity of 215 Penn Forest Road South, Kunkletown, PA 18058. Any questions regarding directions can be answered by calling the park office at 610-377-0045, 8am-4pm, or by emailing the park naturalist at rbergstres@pa.gov. Registration is required. Please register each individual attending, separately.

I will need accommodation in order to participate in this program. I recognize that if an ASL interpreter is needed, I will need to register 5 days or more in advance of the event so that the park can secure an interpreter for me.
I will notify Beltzville State Park if my plans change.
