Title
PA 250: Folk Healing in the Keystone State
Description
Explore Pennsylvania’s role in nature-based wellness in the 1700’s. Learn how healers utilized knowledge of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and other natural materials in their healing remedies. This session will touch on knowledge collected from Indigenous nations and the early settlers of the Appalachian Mountain region. During this session you will be invited to explore the folk healing ingredients still found in Ricketts Glen State Park. This session offers a historical look at wellness practices in the 1700’s. There will be NO diagnosing, treating, or prescribing at this session. This is not a medical plants “how to” program. Registration Required. Contact Rhiannon Summers at 570-477-7780 or rhsummers@pa.gov for more information.
