Title
Revolution in the Morning: History and Tree ID Hike
Description
Celebrate the semiquincentennial by learning about local and natural ties to the revolution! Enjoy a 2.5-mile hike along the southern shore of Lake Nockamixon, with stops along the way for identification of tree species significant to the revolution. Our final stop will be at the historic Keller House to talk about the legacy of the Keller family and their role in the Revolutionary War effort in Bucks County. Registration is required for this activity. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. To register, click the "register" button above. The hike will begin and end at the Elephant Trailhead parking lot. There are no restroom facilities at this trailhead, but a restroom will be made available at our final stop. The hike will be 2.5 miles, and will traverse mostly flat terrain, with some roots, rocks, and mud to contend with. Wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes, bring water, and apply bug spray. We will allot two hours to complete our hike to allow plenty of time for discussion, but we may conclude early. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome on this hike. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
