Tiadaghton State Forest will be hosting the Pine Creek Nature Book Club, with meetings starting in January of 2024. We will meet on the second Thursday of each month (January through June 2024) from 6:00 – 6:50 PM in the Community Room of the Jersey Shore Public Library (110 Oliver St, Jersey Shore, PA 17740). With interest, there will also be an option to join the meeting virtually.
Members will get to meet with like-minded individuals to discuss that month’s assigned book. The Pine Creek Nature Book Club is open to anyone and is free to join and attend. Members will have to provide their own books and are encouraged to work with their local libraries to borrow books.
The Pine Creek Nature Book Club will allow participants to read and discuss a variety of nature writing, local, and natural history topics of different viewpoints with others who share similar or differing viewpoints is a relaxed, casual, open atmosphere.
Members of the club will also have the ability to join field programs and excursions related to books read throughout the year that may not be available to the general public. Although geared towards an adult audience, teens are welcomed to join and participate with a parent or guardian. Attend one meeting, or all six!

March 14 – White Pine: The Natural and Human History of a Foundational American Tree by John Pastor (2023)
April 11 – The Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard (1974)
May 9 – Pioneer Life; Or, 30 Years a Hunter by Phillip Tome (1854)
June 13 – Stirring the Mud: On Swamps, Bogs, and Human Imagination by Barbara Hurd (2001)
