Edible Wild Plants Workshop
Description
This two-day workshop will walk participants through proper field identification of local plants and their histories, past, and current uses as edible plants. We will investigate the nutritional value of wild plants, safety of collecting and consumption of wild plants, resources you can and should use, and how to incorporate them into your everyday diet. The workshop will conclude by foraging and preparing a group lunch on Sunday. The weekend will consist of talks/lectures, short hikes, field studies, hands-on activities, and tastings. On-site overnight camping will be available but is not required. Please indicate when registering whether you would like to camp. Registration required. Donation of $20 to the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation in care of “Tiadaghton State Forest Environmental Education” is requested. Due either online prior to the program, or by cash/check the day of. This program is geared towards an upper high school/adult level. Participiants should be able to attend BOTH days of the workshop.
