Third Thursday of the month June 16, July 21, August 18, Sept 15 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM Join us at the historic Kings Gap mansion for a summer book club series for adults. Explore various nature topics with a guided discussion led by the staff. Participants read the book on their own before each session. Books can be purchased from local bookstores, such as the Whistlestop Bookshop in downtown Carlisle. Light refreshments will be provided. June 16: Tales from the Ant World – Edward O. Wilson Join scientist, Edward O. Wilson, as he takes you on a journey across the world to discover the wonderful and fierce world of ants. Wilson’s illuminating personal stories and scientific research will open your eyes to a whole new world. July 21: 100 Heartbeats- Jeff Corwin In this book, legendary conservationist and TV host, Jeff Corwin,provides an urgent portrait of wildlife that is suffering in silence and teetering on the brink of extinction. “100 Heartbeats” refers to the animal species with fewer than 100 individuals left on Earth. August 18: American Wolf- Nate Blakeslee This true story tells the tale of a Yellowstone wolf called O-Six and her challenging journey for survival. Blakeslee tells a larger story about the ongoing cultural clash in the West as wolves are being reintroduced and protected. Sept 15: Flight Behavior- Barbara Kingsolver This story follows a discontented farmwife who discovers millions of monarchs near her home. The experience causes her to reckon with what she knows of the world around her and herself. Limited space available. Registration required by clicking the green button at the right.
