The first Mother's Day was recognized in 1908, when Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia sent 500 carnations to a curch to commemorate her late mother. Perhaps that is why the idea of celebrating our mothers and motherly figures has become synonomous with flowers. Being honored in early to mid-May, there really is no better time to take a wildflower walk than Mother's Day.
Join the park naturalist for a leisurely wildflower walk at Oil Creek State Park. All are welcome to attend this program, mother or not. We will be utilizing the bike trail, which is paved and relatively flat.
