Join a naturalist at 9 a.m. on select weekdays for hikes of varying length and difficulty. This year’s series visits trails on our public lands including state parks, state forests, and state game lands. Come out to get some exercise, learn about the area’s natural history, and relax in the fresh air. Hikes are free and open to the public. Well-behaved and friendly leashed dogs are welcome
TRAIL: Fireline, Hickory Run, and Switchback Trails
LENGTH: 3½ miles TERRAIN: most difficult
MEET: Gould trailhead at Hickory Run State Park
This is a challenging loop that takes hikers down a set of switchbacks, along a scenic creek, and up a rocky, exposed slope. The variety of habitats traversed on this hike is striking, from riparian forests to open fields. Wildlife sign is always abundant in this area!
Please wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water and snacks.
