Heritage Cooking: Family Bread (virtual)
In many families, bread is essential, and it can take many forms. Ritual breads play important roles in religious or cultural celebrations. Before mass production, bread was baked in home ovens, or the village’s central bake ovens. We explore ways that bread baking and eating connect families and heritage in SE Pennsylvania. During this program, participants are invited to cook along with us as we make Indian Poori or flatbread and a savory quick lentil stew. Join folkways historian, Dr. Cassandra Gunkel and Tyler State Park Educator, Bonnie Tobin as we discuss our shared history and connections through bread. Participants will receive recipes and shopping list in advance so you can choose to cook along or just join for the presentation and discussion. Registration will close at 9 am on Dec 1, 2022. Meeting link and recipies will be sent at that time via email from Ingredient list will auto send when you register. Also in this series - Heritage Cooking: Eat Your Greens - January 1, 2023

I will need accommodation in order to participate in this program. I recognize that if an ASL interpreter is needed, I will need to register 5 days or more in advance of the event so that the park can secure an interpreter for me.
I will notify Tyler State Park if my plans change.
