First Day Hike
Description
Say Hello! to 2023 with a hike on the Pleasant Valley Trail at Moraine State Park. The Pleasant Valley Trail winds past the sled riding hill, near Bear Run launch area, and joins the Sunken Garden Trail to make a loop of about two miles. Reserve your spot on the First Day Hike with views of Lake Arthur and trek through snowy woods, on this trail rated for easy hiking. If the Pleasant Valley Trail is groomed for cross country skiing, we will avoid the ski tracks, choosing a different route, but will still meet at the Pleasant Valley Picnic Area. First Day Hikes, open to all ages and friendly dogs on leashes, will be led by park staff. Reservations are required for every person attending. Registration opens December 1. Be sure to click the “register” button on the DCNR Calendar of Events. Confirmation and meeting location details will be emailed to you once you complete your registration. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather and the outdoors, and bring your own drink and snacks. Severe or dangerous weather cancels event automatically.
