Virtual Lunchtime Lecture: Tree ID - Soft Mast Species
Winter tree ID can be challenging but rewarding. We're here to help! In this program we will introduce stem and leaf arrangement, as this is the first step to identifying broadleaf trees. The trees in this program will all be alternately arranged, and we will be focusing on soft mast species such as black gum, cherry, and hackberry as well as some other species such as aspen and birch. These trees are abundant in our forest but can be tricky to ID, so you will learn some tips on how to pick them out in this program! This program is being held virtually via Teams. You must register to get the link to the program. Register by clicking the green register button for this program. The Teams link will be the same for all Januaryprograms, so you should be able to re-join each Monday and Wednesday with one registration. If you have questions or require accommodations, please email me ahead of the program at mmarker@pa.gov or call us at 717-567-9255. We will not be able to help you once the program has started.
