Virtual – Maple Sugaring: Getting Started
This program will be held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS – it will not take place in the park. Every year in the month of March, Parker Dam State Park makes pure maple syrup, and instructs visitors about how they can make their own at home. We have also been conducting maple sugaring “distance learning” sessions (virtual interactive webinar) with schools for the last four years, and this year we are expanding our virtual maple sugaring program to others who may be interested in this type of program, because there will be no in-person Maple Sugaring programs at the park in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. This virtual maple sugaring program series is progressive and will cover different aspects of sugaring each week. Programs are estimated to be 30 to 45 minutes in length. This program will cover the history of maple sugaring, how sap moves through the tree, and how the techniques of sugaring have changed over the years, and yet remain the same.
